Let’s Do Business Group Goes Green… Again!

Let’s Do Business Group were delighted to once again support the incredible work of Ore Community Land Trust by volunteering to help maintain the much-loved Speckled Wood community space in Hastings. On Thursday 3rd July 2025, members of the Let's Do Business Group team headed out into the woodland to get stuck into a day of clearing, tidying, and improving the area for local residents and wildlife alike.

Following on from our volunteering day in 2024, our team once again rolled up their sleeves and spent the day helping to maintain and improve the green space in the Ore Valley area of Hastings. As a social enterprise dedicated to making a positive impact in our communities, we were proud to get involved again and support a local organisation that shares our values around sustainability, inclusivity, and community wellbeing.

Ore Community Land Trust is a volunteer-led organisation that has been working tirelessly to protect and preserve the Speckled Wood area, an important natural woodland and community space that offers a vital escape for local residents and wildlife alike.

Split into three groups, this year our team helped with:

Managing the overgrowth of the Volunteering Centre and Community Garden,

Clearing up debris and fixing old stair pathways

Mowing the lawn at the top of the land

All of which was done to ensure it remains accessible and welcoming for everyone. It was a physically active but highly rewarding day, and a great opportunity for team bonding outside the office.

We had such a great day last year it was a pleasure to liaise with Jo again to organise this year’s event. It is always good to get out of the office into the fresh air and do something different, and giving back to the community is a bonus. With a big group of volunteers, you can really see a difference at the end of the session.

A huge thank you to the Let’s Do Business team for giving up your morning to help in the Community Garden — some big jobs ticked off our list and it was great to see you all again!
— Jo Walker, Volunteer, Ore Community Land Trust

We’d like to thank the team at the Ore Community Land Trust for once again welcoming us with open arms, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with them in the future!
