Targeted Support for Local Growth

The two funding programmes were designed to address specific business and development needs across Newhaven:

Refurbishment of Employment Space Fund

The Newhaven Refurbishment of Employment Space Fund attracted 14 applications. These focused on developing existing commercial buildings through refurbishment, expansion or relocation projects. As a result, 9,339.76 square metres of industrial, creative, hospitality and commercial space have been developed or enhanced within Newhaven , strengthening the town’s employment infrastructure.

Low Carbon Investment and Green Innovation Funds

The Newhaven Low Carbon Investment Fund attracted 9 applications from businesses seeking to adopt low carbon technologies and processes, enabling growth while reducing environmental impact. Supported projects have delivered measurable environmental improvements, including annual CO₂e reductions of up to 55,421kg and electricity savings of up to 80,000 kWh per year on individual projects.

In addition, the Low Carbon Green Innovation Fund received 5 applications, encouraging businesses to adopt forward-thinking sustainable technologies. Unlocking over £1.5 million of investment is a significant achievement and we’re proud to have supported businesses in turning their growth and sustainability ambitions into reality. The strength of applications we received highlights the ambition and resilience of the local business community, and it’s encouraging to see the lasting impact these projects will have across the town .
